Let’s face it, we all do it. We take out our mobile phones wanting to message someone that we’ve arrived, to see any messages, or perhaps to get directions, but we forget the risk of mobile phone theft.
One of the high-risk places for phone theft is when we leave the underground station. We often forget the dangers of phone thieves seizing our valuable devices from our hands and the unfortunate possibility of losing all the information we hold on them.
Cllr Stephen Stark recognised this and wrote to the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, with an idea to raise awareness by introducing announcements on the tube when commuters enter the station and at the station, asking them to take care and be extra vigilant when using their mobile phones while leaving the station.
The deputy Mayor for Transport, Seb Dance, agreed to Cllr Stephen Stark’s idea, and announcements will soon be heard at Hampstead tube and overground stations, and hopefully other stations across London.
Well done, Stephen and Seb. You see, collaboration of ideas for the public good works!
Cllr Stark doesn’t just listen, he acts. He will always work in your and the public’s best interests.
Cllr Stephen Stark and Amanda Sefton are working for a better and safer Hampstead.
