Haverstock Hill Cycle Lane It’s official - £3.2 million wasted on this so far.

The whole of Belsize Park is suffering a massive upheaval due to the ongoing works to create the unwanted, potentially unsafe and definitely overpriced Haverstock Hill Cycle Lanes. 
This misbegotten project has mushroomed to include ludicrously extravagant granite-set parking spaces, a series of bevelled kerbstones, complicated routes around bus stops, granite tables at junctions, blue-painted areas, and more ins and outs than the elbows in the string section of the London Philharmonic. 

All this makes the area look like a highway engineer’s idea of a crazy golf course, all for £3.2 million.

Your Conservative Councillors “called-in” this mad scheme when it was first conceived. We made the clear points that it would be hazardous, would not deliver any benefit to cyclists and should not be progressed. Camden Labour chose to ignore us. Camden and Belsize Lib Dems remained mute. Their knee-jerk attitude that anything labelled cycling has to be good blinded them to the obvious facts. 

If only you local residents who objected to the scheme had not been overruled in favour of invented “stakeholders” from outside the borough, we would not be in this mess. It would now be good if those residents had the chance to show the Council that they do not appreciate being ignored and were able to send a clear message to Camden. 
WELL YOU CAN! On the 7th of May at the local elections, send that message by voting for the only Party which respected your views and
